No spot is saved until payment is received. Here are ways to pay summer fees for in-person opportunities:
This opportunity is for children who will start kindergarten in August 2026 and is based on their school readiness assessment. To enroll in this program to build kindergarten readiness skills, children must have completed kindergarten registration (which includes a physical) and summer school registration by June 2. Shuttle transportation will be provided for students accepted and fully registered by June 2. The program is free for students who are invited to participate. Students who are not invited to participate but would still like to do so may pay the $180 registration fee and attend.
In-person instruction is available free for K-5 students who have been notified they meet the criteria for summer school based on academic need, their performance on standardized assessments or state remediation criteria. If you have questions about your child’s eligibility, then contact your school. Breakfast and lunch are available; transportation from the student’s home school to the summer site is provided for students registered by June 2. Parents are responsible for dropping off students at the home school and picking them up from the home school at the end of the summer school day.
Students in grades K-5 who wish to participate in summer school but do not meet the criteria based on academic need may pay the $300 course fee. Summer school is not recommended for A/B students. Prekindergarten students who wish to participate in summer school but were not invited to attend may pay the $180 course fee.
For elementary students with disabilities instructed on Virginia Essentialized Standards of Learning, summer instruction will provide reinforcement in math, reading, communication and functional skills. Parents will be notified if a student meets the criteria. If a parent wants their child to attend summer school, they must register via ParentVUE between April 6 and June 2. Breakfast and lunch are available; transportation from the student’s home school will be provided for students registered by June 2.

The math 8 summer bridge course is required for rising eighth graders who are currently enrolled in math 7 during the 2025-26 school year and hope to take algebra I in the 2026-27 school year. The bridge course is free. Students must take and pass the course to enroll in algebra I in eighth grade. Seventh graders who were enrolled in middle school math II, math 7 honors or math 8 honors do not need to enroll in the summer bridge course. New to summer school in 2026 is the summer science bridge course. The bridge course is free. The science systems 1 bridge course is required for rising seventh graders who are currently enrolled in science 6 in 2025-26 and want to move into the honors pathway in the 2026-27 school year. Sixth graders who were enrolled in science systems 1 do not need to enroll in the summer bridge course. Complete details about the science bridge class are available here. About in-person driver’s education: Driver’s ed (classroom portion) is the only in-person summer class available for students who want to take a class for the first time to get ahead or create room in their schedule. Driver’s education costs $150 and is offered June 22-July 9 at Monacan High; June 29-July 16 at Monacan High; and June 29-July 16 at Matoaca High. Classes will not meet July 2.
Virtual instruction is available via CCPSOnline for students who want to take high school credit courses for acceleration. This means taking a class for the first time to get ahead or to create more room in their schedule for classes during the regular school year. Summer registration opened Feb. 2 and closes at 5 p.m. April 24. Students taking courses through CCPSOnline pay $325 (full-credit course) or $200 (half-credit course). Targeted sessions help students prepare for tests. The SOL Academy and the W!se Academy are free for students who passed a class but did not pass the corresponding SOL end-of-course test or who did not pass the W!se test. These are students who plan to get a standard or advanced high school diploma. Students must attend every day of the academy; no absences are permitted during remediation.

Give it a go! Summer camps offer a chance to have fun and explore new subjects. Registration opens March 6 and closes as the camps fill. Your student is not guaranteed a spot in the camp until you have registered and paid.
Exploring Pathways in Careers is what Camp EPIC is about, offering exciting, hands-on career experiences for students who will be in grades 6-8 in 2026-27. Camp EPIC runs 8 a.m.-4 p.m. June 1-5 (Monday through Friday) at CTC@Courthouse. The cost is $160. Breakfast and lunch are provided, but transportation is not provided. Cultural Arts Camp offers visual arts, music, STEAM, physical activity and world language for students who are in grades K-5 in 2025-26. Get your passport ready because World Language Camp features rotations through four languages and cultures: French, Spanish, German and Latin. Students who are in grades 1-5 in 2025-26 will enjoy memorable and meaningful activities as they travel the world, see the sights and learn vocabulary. They will explore city life: common culture components, the first Roman cities, public transportation in French-speaking countries, housing in Spanish-speaking countries and shopping around town in German-speaking countries. Team SKILLS is a basketball camp for students who will be in grades 5-8 in 2026-27. Campers will improve basketball skills, develop teamwork and learn important life lessons. Immersion Language Camp provides opportunities in Spanish or French. In their chosen language, students will explore pollinators in the garden: bees, butterflies, birds, bats and more. Transportation to and from the student’s home school to the summer site is provided for students who register by June 2, but transportation is not provided for camps. Parents must get students to the home school to ride the shuttle and pick them up when the shuttle returns at the end of the summer school day. Breakfast and lunch are available during in-person opportunities, although camps may be excluded.
No. Summer classes and camps are subject to enrollment numbers and teacher hiring. If fees are required, then spaces are not held until both registration and fees have been received.
Students who should sign up are those who meet the criteria to attend summer school and have received an invitation. If you have questions about your child’s eligibility, then contact your school counselor. Any student who does not meet the criteria may register and pay the fee. In-person summer school is not recommended for A/B students (except for driver’s education).
