The Virginia Business Education Association selected Yvonne Mullins as Business Teacher of the Year. This statewide award recognizes outstanding business educators who demonstrate excellence in teaching, leadership, innovation and service to the profession.
Mullins joined Chesterfield County Public Schools in 2003 and has taught at Midlothian High since 2010. Currently a business teacher and chair of the school’s career and technical education department, she is also the adviser for Midlothian’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America, which has more than 300 student members. Each year about 65 Midlothian students qualify for the national FBLA leadership conference and repeatedly achieve top 10 finishes in national competitions.
Mullins exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism. Believing every student has the potential to succeed, she consistently challenges them to exceed their own expectations. Her students develop not only technical business skills but also the confidence, leadership and work ethic necessary for success beyond high school.
