Speak up to support fully funding the school system’s 2024 financial plan. Call or email members of the Board of Supervisors directly or provide written comments via the Chesterfield County budget feedback form. Please email your state representatives in the General Assembly and send your feedback to the Governor’s Office.

Spring break #

Chesterfield County Public Schools students will be on spring break April 3-7.

Several 2023-24 registrations are underway #

  • March 31 is a deadline for Chesterfield Virtual School enrollment. Chesterfield County students in grades K-8 can be part of Virginia’s first virtual school. Enrollment for new students to the Chesterfield Virtual School begins by completing this form before March 31. Current students will remain enrolled in Chesterfield Virtual School, unless they are on a waiver. Current students who are on a waiver must fill out this form before March 31. Virtual students who intend to return to their school of residence are asked to fill out this form and go to their school of residence to enroll for 2023-24 before April 28.
  • Kindergarten preregistration is open. Children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 30 can start kindergarten in the 2023-24 school year. Online preregistration is now open, so families can start the enrollment process online. CCPS kindergarten kickoff week will be April 17-21.
  • Prekindergarten applications are open. Prekindergarten is a free, full-day program for 4-year-olds, and transportation is provided in accordance with school system guidelines. Click here for more information or to apply.
  • CCPSOnline registration is open for summer and 2023-24 school year. CCPSOnline offers high school flexibility. Students can take some or all of their classes in a no-walls, no-bells, no-limits virtual environment. Registration for summer courses and for the 2023-24 school year is open through April 28. Students should talk to their school counselor about including CCPSOnline in their schedule.

2023 Youth Leadership Academy #

Applications are open for the 2023 Youth Leadership Academy organized by the Virginia Board for People With Disabilities. The academy helps high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with developmental and other disabilities develop their leadership skills by giving them the tools to succeed as they transition out of high school. The program will be held in person July 10-13 at Virginia State University. All training expenses, including food and lodging, are paid by the Virginia Board for People With Disabilities. Apply before 5 p.m. April 7. 

Seven stars join Hall of Fame #

Last week, the Hall of Fame of Chesterfield County Public Schools inducted seven new members. Click their names to see a short video about each honoree:


Nominations are open for the next round of Hall of Fame inductees. Use this form to nominate retired teachers, educational and operational support staff members, leaders and volunteers who helped make Chesterfield County Public Schools a nationally recognized, award-winning school system. English language learners invited to CCPSOnline gathering #

Families whose home language is not English are invited to learn more about virtual options for high school credit. Organized by the school system’s Office of English as a Second Language, the CCPSOnline information session will start at 6:30 p.m. April 18 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse, 10101 Courthouse Road. Details are available in Spanish, in Arabic and in English.

Summer camp registration is heating up #

Camp EPIC (Exploring Pathways in Careers) offers exciting, hands-on career experiences for students who will be in grades 5-8 in 2023-24. Camp EPIC runs 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and the cost is $150 for each one-week session. Sign up now for one session or two sessions!

  • June 5-8 at CTC@Courthouse: Opportunities include Cake Wars, Top Chef, Trading Places home improvement, Cyberhacker, Dental Explorers, Green Team agriculture, Stylin’ It makeup techniques, Motor Sports and Swift Coding.
  • June 12-15 at CTC@Hull: Opportunities include Battlebots, Cake Wars, Top Chef, CSI Chesterfield, Stylin’ It makeup techniques, Project Runway, Emergency 911 first aid and emergency techniques, Swift Coding and Vet Tech.

 

Team MAGIK is a basketball camp for students who will be in grades 5-8 in 2023-24. Campers will improve basketball skills, develop teamwork and learn important life lessons. Team MAGIK runs 8 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday at Midlothian Middle, and the cost is $65 for each one-week session. Sign up now for one or more sessions!

  • July 3-6 (Camp is closed July 4.)
  • July 10-13
  • July 17-20

Summer Play Camps are for early childhood special education students. The weeklong camps provide enrichment experiences and help students practice play and social skills. Families are asked to register here, then school staff members will be in touch to confirm which week their child will attend camp.

SAFE fundraising breakfast is May 11 #

Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE) is dedicated to engaging the community to reduce and prevent substance abuse. The organization’s spring fundraising breakfast is planned for May 11, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at CTC @ Hull (13900 Hull Street Rd.). Tickets are $25 each, and registration for the event is required. Earth Day event planned #

The Chesterfield Earth Day Festival, presented by the Chesterfield C-Fit community, will bring together a host of environmentally-conscious aspects of Chesterfield including county departments, local companies, and  more. Enjoy demonstrations and outdoor activities while learning about ways to be environmentally friendly in Chesterfield. The event is planned for April 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (10300 Courthouse Road).

In Case You Missed It #

Student-grown plants on sale April 15 #

Student-grown vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials and native plants will be available at the annual plant sale at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse, 10101 Courthouse Road. The event is open to the public 8 a.m.-4 p.m. April 15.

Students in urban agriculture plant systems and greenhouse production will sell more than 250 varieties of plants they have grown using only certified organic amendments. Along with the plant sale:

  • Students in baking and pastry and culinary arts will sell refreshments.
  • Work by students in commercial photography and digital arts will be on display.
  • Other student-created items for sale will include herbal products, fresh vegetables, flower arrangements and handmade soaps.

The plant sale will accept cash, checks and credit cards, with proceeds supporting Chesterfield Career and Technical Center programs. Questions? Call 804-768-6160, ext. 1037.

Save the date: Job fair for students is April 13 #

On April 13, Chesterfield County Public Schools will host its second annual Student Job Fair for high school students. A variety of employers will be available at the event offering short- or long-term employment opportunities with an option to interview students during the job fair. Students are asked to preregister if they plan to attend and follow this schedule if possible:

  • 4 p.m. — Students whose last name starts with A- H
  • 5 p.m. — Students whose last name starts with I -O
  • 6 p.m. — Students whose last name starts with P- Z
