Adult Continuing Education offers opportunities for Chesterfield County residents to continue to learn and grow. We offer workforce training and certifications, enrichment classes, and the Super Senior Passport. We also work with adults who are interested in completing their GED. Adult students who want to improve their English language skills can also take classes with us.
In-person, teacher-led classes are held in the fall and spring semesters. All students must attend an in-person orientation session after enrolling in our program. Please note that students younger than 18 years old who are interested in the GED program should contact Carver College and Career Academy at 804-768-6156. Classes available for GED preparation
Critical thinking
Prepare for the GED Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies Exams. Explore themes in history and science and discuss their application to current events. Learn to evaluate arguments, practice the rules of written English and learn how to write in a formal, organized style.
Math
Prepare for the GED Math Exam. Solve everyday problems using numbers, graphs and charts, basic operations, central tendency, decimals, fractions, percents and ratios. Use measurement, probability, equations, expressions, algebra, geometry, functions and patterns to represent data and relationships.

Come join our learning community! In our English classes, students will improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. Students will learn about American culture, workforce and educational systems while improving their computer literacy skills. Levels include: Early literacy through high advanced. There are three methods of instruction offered: in-person, virtual classes (100% on the computer, teacher led) and distance learning only (100% on the computer, self-paced). Students receive a textbook and opportunities to access online learning and educational enrichment.
