Our music and theatre programs offer a wide range of opportunities, including instrumental ensembles, pageantry, stage performance, and dramatic arts. Every student has a place to belong, grow, and express themselves. While specific clubs and ensembles may evolve each year to reflect student interest, our dedication to fostering artistic excellence and school spirit stays the same. Midlothian Theatre works to create engaging and enticing productions for the Midlothian community. We strive to include as many talented students as possible, and are open to anyone to audition or help build the set and put the production together. Midlothian Theatre is a great opportunity for expression for students and also offers many leadership opportunities in design, management, and directing roles.
ITS/Center Stage is a way for students to be recognized for their hard work and commitment to the theatre arts. Center Stage is Midlothian High’s special organization to honor students hard work, but students wanting to go the extra mile can apply to be inducted into ITS and will receive a cord at graduation.
The Trojan Marching Band is music in motion, and it’s one of the biggest and most-visible student organizations on campus. Students from all four Band classes and the Color Guard combine to form the TMB. Participation in the TMB gives students the opportunity to work with other students to perform, entertain, and compete. Students in the TMB have the opportunity to grow into leadership positions that give the students real-world leadership experience. Participation in the TMB is optional for all students in a Band class.
Symphony Club allows students to continue their Band and Orchestra studies beyond the classroom! Students will run rehearsals on their own, improve their technical skills, and learn how to work together as a team on a common goal: a musical performance! Music is chosen by students and can vary widely, from classical pieces, to music from your favorite TV show!
Showband – The Midlothian High School showband, Hot Lips!, serves as accompaniment for the competitive show choir groups in the chorus department. Show band will play a variety of pop music and other styles. Participation in this activity requires attendance and participation in every show choir event for the whole year.
Orchestra Club allows students to continue their Orchestra studies beyond the classroom! The Pit Orchestra provides live instrumental accompaniment for the spring musical theatre production.
Guitar Club is a place for students to play guitar with their friends, learn new music to jam to, and improve their skills on the guitar in a low-stress environment!
The Midlo Color Guard and Winter Guard are what we call pageantry arts. The skills that make up a Color Guard or Winter Guard performance include dance/movement, flag spinning, rifle spinning, and sabre spinning. The Color Guard performs outside as part of the Trojan Marching Band in the fall, and the Winter Guard performs as their own ensemble inside gyms on basketball courts in the winter. The Winter Guard puts together its own show to recorded music.
