Don’t underestimate the importance of having fun participating in school activities. Some of the best times and memories students have are the experiences of belonging to a club or participating in an after school activity. Clubs and activities are important to join just for the enjoyment that they will bring to most students, but they also allow the students to more easily make friends because the groups are small and they get to be themselves!
Clubs and activities provide students with many positive experiences that help them to become well-rounded individuals who are ready for college or the workplace. It helps students to become active in their school and to feel a connection the school and to others. It provides a sense of pride and school spirit and it is a positive influence on our youth today.
At Weaver, we value community and family engagement. We partner with the PTA multiple times during the school year on community events like school spirit nights, fall festival, field day, grade-level performances, book fairs and more.
Happy Feet is a morning fitness club open to all Weaver Students. The club meets Friday mornings on the track in the Fall and Spring. Students work to improve cardiorespiratory fitness through walking, jogging, and running.
The Weaver Elementary “K kids” club is sponsored by a local Kiwanis Club and is a student-run community service and leadership group for students in grades 1 – 5.
The Kiwanis organization also sponsors middle school “Builders Clubs” and high school “Key Clubs” in our area. Although there are “K kids” clubs world-wide, our school club is the first one to be established in Chesterfield County Public Schools and has grown rapidly since it was established at Weaver in the spring of 2011.
Our school K kids club meets once per month on Wednesday mornings before school in the cafeteria and is sponsored by our school counselor Liza Becker. Club activities are also coordinated with our PTA outreach program. Students elect their own board of directors and develop the service projects that they will carry out during the school year. Some projects that we have completed in prior years include participation in the Puritan Cleaners Coats for Kids drive, making pet treats for the Richmond Animal League, decorating pumpkins to be distributed to various organizations, and raising over $5,000 to be able to pack meals for the Stop Hunger Now organization.

Our Safety Patrol program empowers selected 5th Grade students to help keep the school environment safe and orderly. Patrols assist in , monitoring hallways around the car and bus loop by promoting positive behavior among their peers. This leadership opportunity teaches responsibility, teamwork, and community spirit while helping ensure a secure and welcoming school for everyone.
Nest Patrol is a Weaver initiative designed to foster a safe and supportive environment for all students by involving positive adult role models from our school community.
Purpose of the Nest Patrol program:
To provide positive role models for our students, demonstrating through their presence that education is important and valued.
To enhance school security by offering extra sets of eyes and ears around campus.
To provide encouragement, coaching, and support, promoting a safe and respectful atmosphere that supports learning.
We believe that, as a community, we all want the same things for our children: safety, encouragement, and success. This shared vision is what unites us and makes this program so meaningful.
By participating in the Nest Patrol program, we aim to strengthen the bond between families, students, and educators, working together to create a positive impact on our school and beyond.
Our school’s House System is part of our PBIS plan and promotes a strong sense of belonging and builds community. At BWE, each House represents a region of Virginia (in alignment with our Virginia Studies Standards of Learning) while also embodying one of our Core Values (positivity, responsibility, respect, safety, and kindness). Each student and staff member is placed in one of the Five Houses (Marieners, Governors, Mountainers, Rangers, or Miners)
