Don’t underestimate the importance of having fun participating in school activities. Some of the best times and memories students have are the experiences of belonging to a club or participating in an after school activity. Clubs and activities are important to join just for the enjoyment that they will bring to most students, but they also allow the students to more easily make friends because the groups are small and they get to be themselves!
Clubs and activities provide students with many positive experiences that help them to become well-rounded individuals who are ready for college or the workplace. It helps students to become active in their school and to feel a connection the school and to others. It provides a sense of pride and school spirit and it is a positive influence on our youth today.
Battle of the Books is a motivational reading program for fifth-grade students. The goals of this program are to encourage recreational reading, to expose students to a variety of types of literature, to increase familiarity with authors, and to share books through written and oral expression. The program will culminate in a competition within our school, then a team representing Greenfield will be involved in a competition with other elementary schools. This program is voluntary, and all fifth graders are invited to participate.
Greenfield’s chess club is a chance for students to gather and play chess with friends before school. There is no formal instruction, and all skill levels are welcome.

Girls on the Run to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength and make meaningful connections with others.
The Greenfield Voices is a combined 4th & 5th grade vocal ensemble, promoting musical growth and celebrating the “graduation” of senior members. The goal of this ensemble is to sing a wide variety of choral music, perform for our peers and community, and represent our school proudly through stellar musicality, ROARS behavior, and thoughtful artistry. Interest letters regarding the 2024-2025 Greenfield Voices will become available at the start of next school year.
The Greenfield Winterguard was founded in 2023, and is currently the only competing elementary school winterguard in Virginia! Winterguard students rehearse on a weekly basis and learn basic dance and equipment skills using flags, rifles, and sabres. Along with physical training, winterguard also helps members gain skills in teamwork, concentration, communication, and self-confidence. The members use these skills to perform a unique show for competitions and exhibitions.
The History & Geography Club is for 4th and 5th grade students who love history and geography! We study the history and geography of regions of the world in preparation for qualifying for the IAC History Bee and Geography Bee which is held in the winter!
The Robotics club is for 4th and 5th grade students looking to gain problem solving and collaborating skills. Students work together to learn how to code and build with robots to achieve missions. Robotics is not just for Legos and coding – we have a greater mission of offering a solution to a current world problem. Most importantly we have fun together!
