Don\u2019t underestimate the importance of having fun participating in school activities. Some of the best times and memories students have are the experiences of belonging to a club or participating in an after school activity. Clubs and activities are important to join just for the enjoyment that they will bring to most students, but they also allow the students to more easily make friends because the groups are small and they get to be themselves!<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Clubs and activities provide students with many positive experiences that help them to become well-rounded individuals who are ready for college or the workplace. It helps students to become active in their school and to feel a connection the school and to others. It provides a sense of pride and school spirit and it is a positive influence on our youth today.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Art<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Students at GHES learn to communicate and problem solve by experimenting with a variety of tools, processes and media.\u00a0 We use paint, pastels, paper sculpture, clay and more, to help children develop self-confidence,\u00a0 self-respect and have an appreciation for the world around them through art.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Bark 4 VARC<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Bark 4 VARC (VA Readers Choice) is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in 4th grade.\u00a0 The purpose of this program is to encourage students to read a variety of books.\u00a0 The students must pass a quiz on each of the books read.\u00a0 At the end of the year the students who have read 8 books will take part in an ice cream celebration.\u00a0 While celebrating, the books will be discussed; and the student will cast a vote on their favorite book.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Battle of the Books<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in 5th grade. The purpose is to encourage students to read high quality books and have fun while competing with peers. A student participates by reading from the book list provided for that year. Students must pass a quiz on each book they read to make the team.\u00a0 All students compete in a school-wide competition.\u00a0 8 students will represent Grange Hall in a county-wide competition.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Career Day<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Students have the opportunity to learn about several different careers from volunteer presenters.\u00a0 K-2nd grade students experience careers on Transportation Day when an assortment of vehicles\u00a0 used at work are shared.\u00a0 3rd-5th grade students learn about a variety of career fields from speakers who present in their classrooms.<\/p>

Career Day is coordinated by the School Counseling Department<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>House System<\/span><\/i><\/div>

All staff and students are sorted into one of five houses. Houses are like teams, everyone will belong and everyone will have a chance to participate. Each house reflects one of our Bulldog<\/p>

PRIDE values: politeness, respect, integrity, discipline, and effort. Students will have the opportunity to earn points for their house by showing their Bulldog PRIDE.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Fall Book Fair<\/span><\/i><\/div>

In the fall the book fair is offered to the families during the Fall Carnival\/Festival. Students will also shop during their regularly scheduled library times.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Grange Hall has a very active PTA! Our PTA sponsors many exciting activities throughout the year.<\/p>
