Chesterfield County Public Schools is a planned, sequential program of services that is comprehensive in scope and developmental in nature.<\/p><p>Academic counseling\u00a0helps students and parents learn about curriculum choices, plan an appropriate program of studies, arrange and interpret academic testing and seek postsecondary academic opportunities.<\/p><p>Personal or social counseling\u00a0helps students develop an understanding of themselves and the rights and needs of others, resolve conflict and define individual goals that reflect their interests, abilities and aptitudes. \u00a0Such counseling may be provided in groups in which generic issues of social development are addressed or through structured individual or small group counseling sessions that focus on education (respect, integrity, perseverance, collaboration, and responsibility)<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Small group counseling<\/strong><\/p><p>The following small group topics are offered as staffing and demand dictate:<\/p><ul><li>Changing families (children of divorce)<\/li><li>ADHD support<\/li><li>Study skills<\/li><li>Making new friends<\/li><li>New student lunch bunch<\/li><li>Anxiety support<\/li><li>Home alone skills<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Individual counseling<\/strong><\/p><p>Students may refer themselves to the School Counselor, or they can be referred by a parent, teacher, or administrator.
