Physical & Occupational Therapy<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This two-year dual enrollment program will introduce students to the professions of Allied Health, specifically physical and occupational therapy. Students will explore the principles and practices of therapists in the health care industry and observe clinical settings. This course will enable students to better understand rehabilitative care, which is practiced throughout the continuum of care and across the life span of individuals. After successful completion of this course and passing a national certification exam, students may choose to pursue employment as a certified physical therapy aide or may seek higher education for specific degrees\/licensure in a variety of fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, nursing, sports medicine, athletic training, chiropractic medicine, radiologic technician, ultrasound technician, exercise science, or even becoming a physician.<\/p>

Both\u00a0 Year 1 and Year 2 courses are dual-enrolled through South University, giving students the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school. Embedded in PT\/OT I is college Medical Terminology (AHS 1001 \u2013 4 college credit hours). Embedded in PT\/OT II are undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology I (BIO 1011 \u2013 4 college credit hours) and the associated Lab (BIO 1012 \u2013 2 college credit hours). Completing both years of this program allows students to earn a total of 10 credit hours from South University. These credits may be transferable outside of South University. Chesterfield County Public School considers both of these classes as electives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
