This program is designed to prepare students for careers assisting physicians by performing medical office clerical skills and health care clinical skills. First-year instruction focuses on teaching these skills as well as workplace readiness skills, ethics, medical asepsis, basic human anatomy and physiology, medical math, and medical terminology. To be eligible for the second year,\u00a0the student must have a valid driver\u2019s license and their own transportation to their clinical site and have proof of recent physical including immunizations and TB test before the start of the second year.\u00a0<\/p>

In preparation for their clinical experience, students earn certifications in first aid and CPR. Then, through advanced on-the-job clinical experience in physicians\u2019 offices or clinics, students further develop their medical-assisting skills and techniques. Students can earn certifications in HIPAA Privacy Rule and OSHA. A credential-earning certification assessment will be administered at the end of the program. To be eligible to take the assessment, students must pass both years of Medical Assistant with final grades of B or higher and have all competencies completed.<\/p>

This program is offered as Honors credit with the expectation that students complete four projects throughout the year that extend beyond the standard curriculum. These projects are built into the program and are a great opportunity for students to expand their knowledge of the topics covered in class.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
